DOMs... delayed onset muscle soreness.
Some of you love the feeling, some hate it. Sometimes you feel like you can't even sit on the toilet.
But should you feel like this after every session?
No. Let me explain.
You may feel very sore after your first ever session, or doing something new. You shouldn't feel sore after every single workout, if you do then something is up. Maybe you're doing too much and aren't allowing your body to rest and recover.
When you rest, that's when your muscles repair and grow. It's not when you're in the gym, that's when you do the damage to the muscle fibres.
If you are aching after every session, it means you're not recovering adequately. It could be down to a number of things:
-sleep
-nutrition
-hydration
If you are constantly aching, you cannot train at the intensity you need to in order to get the results you desire. Simply because you are hurting too much to push intensity up.
Although it's important to train hard. It's also important to rest, to eat, to sleep and hydrate too.
Let's stop chasing 'calories burnt during a workout' and start chasing 'let's get strong'
